The lighthouse of Evian-les-bains is located at the level of the English garden, near the bust of Prince Gregory Bibesco Bassaraba de Brancovan, father of Anna de Noailles. It was erected in the middle of the 19th century.
The lighthouse is not classified. Its discretion should not take away that merit. Arriving there, you can see a bust, that of Grégoire Bibesco Bassaraba de Brancovan (1827 Krakow – 1886 Paris), a princely heir of Romania, father of Anna de Noailles and founding president of the nautical society of Evian.
The Evian lighthouse may look like a large lamppost, but it played its role as a landmark on the shores of Lake Geneva for several decades. As such, he deserves the large number of shots he is the subject of. It is also seen on the 1957 stamp, a distant symbol of the city made famous for its hospitality.
