The history of this construction dates back to 1980 when a teacher from Evian, Christian Fernex, passionate about the boats of Lake Geneva, launched the idea of building identical one of these old boats.
Gathering in a bar in Vongy a dozen other enthusiasts, they began to organize themselves in the association «Les Mémoires du Léman» and to develop their project in order to safeguard this local heritage. The initial project was estimated at 5 million French francs and was to be completed in two years; but this was without counting on the many difficulties they had to face, And it was only in 1997 that they managed to finalize their project and their budget and to undertake the reconstruction identical to a boat of this type by taking the plans of a boat of 1896.
